Daytonは1980年にDavid Shawn Sandridgeが結成したファンクバンド。彼は1974年からCapitol Recordsで活動したSunのオリジナルメンバーで、その後Magnumを経てDaytonを設立。「Promise Me」（1983年）と「Eyes On You」（1980年）は、彼らの代表曲として人気が高く、特に7インチのシングルが近年再評価されている。今回のリリースでは、「Promise Me」が初の7インチアルバムバージョン、「Eyes On You」はレアなオリジナル7インチバージョンとして収録。

Dayton were founded in 1980 by David Shawn Sandridge from Dayton, Ohio. David was an original member of the group Sun that began recording for Capitol Records in 1974. He later formed Magnum before founding Dayton, staying with them for all their albums and recording separately as a member of the group Colorblind in 1984.
Dayton recorded four albums for Capitol/United Artists from which the songs on this 7” are the most fondly remembered (alongside “The Sound of Music”). Both have previously been released separately of each other on 7” but have become more sought after in recent times.
“Promise Me” (1983) is the extended album version on 7” for the first time. “Eyes On You” (1980) is the original and now rare 7” length version.
