Claude Hueyは、アメリカ西海岸出身のソウルシンガー。軍を除隊後、Jesse “Ozz” Osborne & The Sperlingsと共に歌い、ソロアーティストとして60年代後半にいくつかの楽曲を録音。その中でも特に評価が高く、コレクターの間で人気のある「Why Would You Blow It」をリリースした。この曲のプロデュースを手掛けたのは「Ozz」で、彼は後にFantasy Recordsのチーフエンジニアとなり、Lenny WilliamsやThe Debonaires、Freddie Hubbardなど、多くのソウルやジャズアーティストと共に活動した。「Why Would You Blow It」はUKのNorthern Soulシーンで人気を博し、オリジナル盤は希少価値が高く高額取引されている。

Claude Huey was a we coast soul singer
who after leaving the army sang with Jesse
“Ozz” Osborne & The Sperlings. As a solo
artist he recorded a number of sides in the
late 60s including the highly acclaimed and
sought after “Why Would You Blow It”.
It was produced by “Ozz” who became a
chief engineer at Fantasy Records and went
on to work with Lenny Williams, The
Debonaires, Freddie Hubbard and an array
of soul and jazz artists.
“Why Would You Blow It” became
popular on the UK’s Northern Soul Scene,
originals of this record becoming rare and
expensive to purchase.
