The brilliant new artist, Maya Blandy, already taking Manchester by storm, partnered up with Jake Wherry and has hit magic. Maya is an incredible singer; jazzy, strong, something addictive about her voice. and this single "LEMONS" is a brilliant opener. On the flip there's a great, jazzy, classic, hip hop swing, powerful song, B.I.B (Bitch In Black) where you really get the measure of this sassy young woman.
“Lemons” is about seeing someone, feeling attracted to them (purely physical) and wanting to spend the night with them - knowing you might never see them again. ‘Come on down we’ll go get high, then once more you can walk on by’
Produced by Jake Wherry, the music for "Lemons" is inspired by the later sounds of Curtis Mayfield, with beautiful acoustic guitars in the style of Ernie Isley, played by top UK session man Adam Phillips (Richard Ashcroft, Tina Turner & Cher). Horns, arranged by Trevor Mires (trombone) with Ryan Quigley on trumpet, "Lemons" beckons the feeling of chilling out in glorious summer sunshine. Adding finishing touches on percussion is Patrick Dawes (Herbaliser/Groove Armada)
