Description
Since its formation in 1969, Soul Media has advocated the fusion of jazz and rock. The 1973 recording "In the Groove" took that route to the next step. Bringing the sharpness of jazz to the fore, melting rock to create an edge, and injecting funk to exude power and elasticity. He created strong, sophisticated, single-mindedly “cool music” that could not be categorized by existing genres such as jazz-rock, jazz-funk, and fusion. This work is said to be a response to The Crusaders, which Jiro Inagaki was paying attention to at the time. The aim is on target. Soul Media acquires a “sophisticated black feeling” with this work, and heads for the final destination, “Funky Stuff”.
