Description
Born in Rio Grande do Sul in the south of Brazil, she was a singer-songwriter and pianist, working with Hermeto Pascoal. Ana Masocchi, a genius who passed away prematurely. "Ana Mazzotti (1977)" was released following "Ninguem Vai Me Segurar (1974)", which is one of the few works left in his career and is known as the pinnacle of Brazilian rare groove. The only new song is "Êta, Samba Bom", and the rest was recorded in a very special way by overdubbing the 1974 master tape. Following the previous work, José Roberto Beltrami (keyboards) and Alex Marheiros (bass/guitar) from Azimuth participated, complementing the gorgeous horn section by Eduardo Assad. And above all, the vocals were re-recorded more thoroughly. "Agora Ou Nunca Mais" and "Eu Sou Mais Eu" are even more powerful and groovy, while songs like "Cordão" and "Bairro Negro" are reminiscent of contemporaries Elis Regina and Ivan Lins. I am overwhelmed by the singing voice. As the original is related to Azimuth, it is very popular in the used market, and it is not easy to obtain, so I am very happy about this world's first reissue. Together with "Ninguem Vai Me Segurar (1974)", it is a work that I would like you to listen to as a masterpiece of MPB in the 70's.
